Cincinnati CoC for the Homeless

HPRP Prevention Program is a collaborative effort between the CoC and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati. The United Way Emergency Assistance Agencies who are collaborating in this program are: Freestore/Foodbank, Santa Maria, Community Action Agency, Jewish Family Service, St. Vincent DePaul, and Mercy Franciscan at St. John’s. Persons in need of assistance to prevent homelessness must call Central Access Point (CAP) at 513-381-SAFE in order to be screened and referred to an agency for assistance.

The HPRP Prevention Program is a short term (up to three months) program designed to help families and individuals most at risk for homelessness and who without this assistance would become homeless. Activities eligible for financial assistance include rent, utility bills, security deposit, and utility deposit. The screening criteria for accessing the HPRP Prevention Program funds include: having an income or income potential, income less than 50% of the Area Median Income, having no other financial resources or supports to remain stably housed, no stays in a homeless shelter in the past two years, a willingness to work with a case manager for up to 3 months and most importantly the ability to remain stably housed after receiving the temporary assistance.

Potential program participants must be residents of Cincinnati/Hamilton County. Anyone interested in the HPRP Homeless Prevention Program should contact CAP at (513) 381-SAFE for screening and a referral to a participating agency.

HPRP Rapid Re-housing Program for Singles is a collaborative effort between the CoC, homeless shelters that serve single individuals and the Freestore/Foodbank. Identified individuals in the participating homeless shelters will be referred to the Freestore/Foodbank for case management services and housing placement in order to rapidly exit from the homeless shelters. These individuals will continue to receive case management and housing stabilization services for up to twelve months.

Clients who are identified as appropriate candidates for the Rapid Re-housing Program for Singles must all: agree to up to 12 months of case management, have income or income potential, not have an income that exceeds 50% Area Median Income and most importantly, have the ability to remain stably housed after receiving temporary assistance.
